The man in the picture was Father Lee Taeseok, a Korean priest and doctor.↵

In 2001, Father Lee Taeseok visited Tonj to help the sick and poor people there.↵

Life in Tonj was very difficult, so he soon returned to Korea.↵

However, he could not forget the people there.↵

So, he flew to Tonj again later that year.↵

From then on, Father John Lee, as the villagers called him. worked tirelessly as a doctor, teacher, and musician.↵

First, he built a hospital and treated 300 people a day.↵

Then he built a school.↵

He even taught math and music and made a band with the villagers.↵
When the music filled the air, the villagers was filled with hopes and dreams too.↵

Unfortunately, in 2008 Father Lee Taeseok discovered that he had cancer.↵
He tried to fight it, but he passed away two years later at the age of 48.↵

Many people were very sad to hear of his death.↵

Today, he is widely admired for his beautiful mind and great love for others.
