During art class, I couldn't find my favorite pencil.↵
It was blue with stars on it.↵ I looked in my bag, on the floor, and even under the table.↵ Then I saw my classmate, Daniel, using a pencil that looked just like mine.↵ "That's my pencil!" I said.↵ Daniel frowned. "No, it's mine. I got it yesterday."↵ We both looked upset.↵ Our teacher came over and asked what was wrong.↵ She looked at the pencil and said, "There are two names on this—one in pen, one in pencil."↵ We looked closer.↵ Under Daniel's name, my name was written faintly.↵ He gasped. "Oh no, I must have picked it up by mistake!"↵ I smiled. "It's okay. I'm glad we figured it out."↵ We laughed, and I gave him a sticker to say sorry for yelling.↵ Now we sit together in art class every week. |

One day, a great lion was sleeping under a tree.↵
A tiny mouse ran over his paw and woke him up.↵ "Who dares to bother me?" the lion roared.↵ "I'm sorry!" squeaked the mouse. "Please don't eat me. Maybe I can help you someday!"↵ The lion laughed loudly. "You? Help me? That's funny!"↵ But he let the mouse go.↵ ↵ A few days later, the lion was walking in the forest.↵ Suddenly, he was caught in a hunter's net.↵ He roared and tried to break free, but the ropes were too strong.↵ ↵ Soon, the mouse heard his cry.↵ She ran to the lion and began to chew the ropes with her sharp teeth.↵ Bit by bit, the ropes broke.↵ The lion was free!↵ ↵ "Thank you, little friend," said the lion.↵ The mouse smiled. "I told you I could help!"↵ From that day, the lion and the mouse were best friends. |
